Pediatric Services (up to 18 years old)
Comprehensive, compassionate speech and language support to help children of all ages and abilities communicate, learn, and thrive at every stage of development.
Speech Sound Disorders (SSD)
Mountain Speech provides assessment and therapy for speech sound disorders that affect how clearly a child is understood.
We support children with articulation challenges (difficulty making specific sounds), phonological patterns (sound “rules” that reduce intelligibility), and childhood apraxia of speech (CAS; a motor-planning difficulty that impacts speech precision). Therapy is individualized and play-based or structured, depending on age and needs, with practical home strategies to support progress in school, at home, and in everyday conversation.
Language
We support children who are not meeting early language milestones, including late talkers or late language emergence, developmental language delays, and children with expressive, receptive, or mixed expressive-receptive language disorders.
We assess both how your child communicates (spoken words and sentences) and how they understand language.
Therapy focuses on building vocabulary, early grammar, and functional communication through engaging activities and everyday routines. We also coach parents and caregivers on practical strategies to support language growth at home, so your child gets more practice in the moments that matter.
Neurodiversity-Affirming Autism Services
We provide neurodiversity-affirming autism services for children and teens that support communication and meaningful participation while honoring each child for who they are.
We support speech, language, social communication, regulation, and self-advocacy skills, while honoring all communication methods, including Alternative & Augmentative Communication (AAC). Services may include Natural Language Acquisition-informed support for Gestalt Language Processors, AAC, caregiver coaching, and sensory-informed approaches. Appointments are available in-clinic, in-home, in community settings, or virtually across Ontario.
Language-Based Learning Disability (LBLD)
We provide assessment and therapy for language-based learning challenges that impact listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
We identify the language skills underlying learning, such as vocabulary, sentence structure, comprehension, and narrative skills, and connect those findings to school demands. Therapy targets the specific language foundations a child needs for stronger classroom participation and academic confidence, with practical strategies families can use at home and in collaboration with educators.
Literacy
We provide literacy assessment and therapy for children who struggle with reading and writing.
We support foundational skills such as phonics, phonological awareness, decoding, spelling patterns, reading fluency, comprehension, and written expression, depending on your child’s needs. Therapy is structured, engaging, and tied to meaningful reading and writing tasks. We also collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom goals, including through programs like our “Let’s Read” summer literacy camp.
Alternative & Augmentative Communication (AAC)
We offer AAC assessment and therapy to help children communicate in ways that work for them.
We support low-tech options (pictures, boards, visuals) and high-tech systems (speech-generating devices and apps). Our team helps families choose tools, build vocabulary that fits daily life, and support communication skills that increase independence and connection. AAC can support language growth, participation at school, and successful interactions at home, school, and in the community.

Fluency (Stuttering & Cluttering)
We provide fluency assessment and therapy for children and teens who stutter or clutter.
We evaluate speech patterns and also consider confidence, participation, and emotional impact. Therapy is evidence-based and tailored by age, with options ranging from play-based support for preschoolers to strategy-building and self-advocacy for older children. Our approach aims to reduce struggle and stigma, support communication confidence, and help families respond in ways that make speaking feel safer and easier.
Pediatric Feeding & Swallowing
We offer assessment and therapy for children with feeding and swallowing concerns to make mealtimes safer and more positive.
We evaluate chewing, oral-motor skills, texture progression, and swallowing safety, and we consider medical, sensory, and behavioral factors. Treatment may include oral-motor and sensory-motor support, gradual texture expansion, and parent coaching for routines that reduce stress. We collaborate with your child’s healthcare team to ensure coordinated, child-centered care.
Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs)
We assess and treat orofacial myofunctional disorders that affect how the tongue, lips, and jaw rest and move for speech, feeding, and breathing.
We look at tongue thrust, mouth breathing, oral resting posture, and related speech sound patterns. Therapy includes targeted exercises, posture and breathing goals, and support for carryover at home. When helpful, we collaborate with orthodontists, OTs, and other providers to support long-term outcomes that go beyond symptoms.
